By now you've all figured out the remake of one of the first 'yachting' TV shows, Gilligan's Island, was a hoax and we would like to thank everyone who applied for the various positions posted :) We had lots of fun watching some of the early episodes and even had the pilot running while writing that little article!
As it turns out, April Fool in itself is actually not a laughing matter in our industry, rather, it is the result of a love story that started in 1955.
M/Y April Fool (now called Samadhi) is a 60m Feadship, delivered to her owner on April 1st, 2006. This was exactly 51 years after Sandy Weill, proud new yacht owner, met his wife where he dedicated the yacht to her. This wasn't his first super yacht and he sold the yacht in 2011 for about 50 million dollars.
Built by ISA shipyards in Italy, project Lioness as she was known back then, is an interesting build in that it is not designed for charter. It has only 4 guest cabins and one master cabin and there is a specially designed awning on the top deck visible in the image above. This boat holds a special place for us at Five Star Crew :)
So for any of you who got away with an April Fool's Day prank or two, congratulations! So did we :) Until next year.....!
